Our Exciting Trip to Wira Bintang Farm!

On the morning of 2nd December 2025, 10 kindy students, 35 primary students, 7 teachers, and our Principal, Dr Debra Sim, visited Wira Bintang Farm in Tawau. We left school at 8:50 a.m., ready for a morning full of learning and fun!

At the farm, Mr David Yip taught our students how to make silage, the special fermented feed for goats. Our young students eagerly filled buckets with grass, added molasses and EM (Effective Mircoorganisms), and helped pack everything tightly. Their active participation and never-ending questions about goats and goat farming left a deep impression on Mr Yip. Even Dr Debra was pleasantly surprised by how bold and curious the students were when speaking to someone they had just met!

The students’ enthusiasm reminded us of the time when Prof Tom Zimmerman visited our school to speak about “Life in a Drop of Water.” Just like during that inspiring session, our primary students showed the same confidence and excitement in asking and answering questions—proving once again that curiosity truly drives learning.

A little about Wira Bintang: what began in 2009 as a tiny 5 ft × 5 ft shed with just two goats has grown into Malaysia’s first and only modern goat farm, now home to over 400 goats. Mr Yip’s dedication earned him the Penternak Jaya 2023 award, showing how far passion and hard work can take us.

We are very grateful to Mr Yip and Wira Bintang Farm for welcoming us and giving our students such an engaging hands-on experience. It was a fun, educational, and inspiring morning for everyone!
